Out With the Old, In with the New. Welcome to PlayHT!
Today, we’re announcing that we’re making a slight yet important change to our punctuation. We’re removing the full stop between Play and H T. It may seem insignificant, but it changes the pronunciation of our brand; we’re now “PlayHT” and no longer “Play dot H T.”
The Importance of Punctuation and New Beginnings
It’s funny how one piece of punctuation changes a word’s flow, delivery, and pronunciation. As a text-to-speech tool, we know firsthand how important punctuation is in a piece of text. It’s the difference between exclamation and hesitation. It’s the difference between it’s and its— which completely changes the meaning of the word. Oftentimes, a piece of punctuation can connote a grammatical error or a typo. In this paragraph alone, we’ve used 5 different types of punctuation!
You get the point; punctuation is important. Today, we’re announcing that we’re making a slight yet important change to our punctuation. We’re removing the full stop between Play and H T. It may seem insignificant, but it changes the pronunciation of our brand; we’re now “PlayHT” and no longer “Play dot H T.”
Why did we change our name? Some people have a hard time saying “dot H T.” Some will even liken our former name to a tongue twister. So we wanted something easier to pronounce, something that rolls off the tongue. We’ve also evolved a lot as a brand since our inception, and it was only right that we reflected that in our name.
